Malaysia's premier holiday destination has recently been given duty free status to help promote tourism. All the usual fast food chains have started to arrive along with big brash hotels but thankfully these are restricted to the east coast, in and around the harbour area and the main town of Kuah.

The west coast is a more tranquil setting and here are many bungalow complexes, right along the beach. The busiest of all the beach areas is Pentai Cenang, where most of the nightlife is centred.
Langkawi has everything to suit all travellers. From budget backpackers right up to two week blow outs!
