Lush tropical forests, cool mountain air,
beaches, lakes and waterfalls. These natural wonders make Pahang, the
largest state in peninsular Malaysia, the most visited place outside of
Kuala Lumpur.
The two most popular destinations here are
the Cameron Highlands,
a beautiful hilltop resort and Pulau
Tioman, one of the most spectacular islands in the world.
Other points of interest are Taman Negara National Park and Kuantan, the
state capital.

Places of interest
Cameron
Highlands
One of the most beautiful spots in the whole of Asia, this hill-top holiday
destination is the perfect spot to escape the city hustle and bustle.
Pulau
Tioman (Tioman Island)
Unspoilt nature, stunning coral reef, deserted beaches, high mountains
and jungle. For all these reasons, Tioman has been voted as one of the
top ten islands in the world.
Kuantan
While being of less historic interest than many of Malaysia's state capitals,
Kuantan is a nice little town and the starting point of all tours around
the state.

Gua Charah (Charah Caves)
The Charah Caves, just outside Kuantan, are a revered Buddhist sanctuary.
The caves are used as meditation retreats for Buddhist monks. The highlight
is an impressive stone sculpture of the reclining Buddha.
Gua Panching
A limestone cave, housing a huge statue of the reclining Buddha, over
9m tall. Around midday sunlight breaks through the cave and illuminates
the statue.
Tasik Chini
The thirteen fresh-water lakes that make up Tasik Chini are similar in
legend to Loch Ness. Stories of monsters in the lakes and an ancient Khmer
city has attracted archaeologists and ruins have been found on the bottom
of the lake. During August and September, the surface of the water is
covered in lotus flowers.
